About (Greater Rochester) Breast Cancer Survivors MeetUp Group

Girls just wanna have fun. Guys, too. This is a fun group, and that's the point. Most of us have at least been traumatized by our diagnosis, might have issues with stress or self management, and need some time to just do something for US. Some are going through treatment, and desire some diversions and/ or to ask questions to help get through it. How you interact with the group, and how often depends upon YOUR needs and YOUR life.

At least, know you are not alone in this. At BCS you have opportunities to support someone, and get supported in return. You can ask/ respond to questions and comments on the Message Board, and come along for good eats, activities, and entertainment with the other group members, and bring a friend along. It's the only local group I know of, where b.c. support is available online. Some people don't like regularly scheduled support groups, but will get together in a social situation. Or, will talk openly in a secret identity format. Here is a forum allowing for opportunities which work within your limits. Isn't it nice to have some control?

Joining is easy, low pressure, and private. Just click the Sign In link in the upper right corner and submit the information requested. You can specify how public you want your info to be, on every contact you make. After you join, please be sure to invite the people you know who might benefit from the use of this meetup group.

This group got off the ground only briefly, in '04. It started up again, last year, and we enjoyed small groups for dinner at some fine restaurants. Now, we continue the tradition, with some new fun events which are more creative and interactive, with our new members, as the group has begun to grow. Didn't know there were such terrific women out there! Every new person brings new wonderful uniquities to our group, and everyone seems to appreciate the fond friendship.

Contacting messages and MeetingUp with other locals, gives us the chance to give each other validation, share our history, exchange contact information, and give each other encouragement to continue to get stronger, live exuberant lives, and build or re-build our futures. Feel free to list other resources you think are useful, in the message boards.
